ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 26. Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan plan to create a joint venture to increase cargo flow along the North-South transport corridor, said Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Maksat Kaliakparov, Trend reports.

He made the remark during the meeting on the development of transport corridors North-South and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or Middle Corridor) in the Mangystau region.

"To improve service, reduce cargo delivery time and provide services on a 'single window' basis within this transport corridor, the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan are planning to create a joint venture," he said.

To note, the international transport corridor North-South, within the framework of which the transportation of goods between the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) and the northern ports of Iran is established, is a promising direction in the light of the development of alternative trade routes.

Meanwhile, the North-South Transport Corridor was founded on an international agreement signed on September 12, 2000, by Russia, Iran, and India. This agreement was signed by Azerbaijan in 2005.

The agreement has been ratified by 13 nations in total (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Armenia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Sultanate of Oman, Russia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Ukraine).
