ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 29. Kazakhstan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have discussed economic prospects for the medium term, Trend reports.

The discussions took place during the IMF's annual consultation mission with the Kazakh authorities. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan, Madi Takiyev, the head of the IMF mission for Kazakhstan, Nicolas Blanchet, his deputy, Alejandro Heidenberg, and other experts.

Thus, the parties reviewed the current implementation of the 2024 budget of Kazakhstan, the main priorities of the Ministry of Finance, including the preparation of budget and tax codes, and the improvement of public procurement procedures.

The minister spoke in detail about the current economic situation in Kazakhstan and the economic reforms being carried out by the government of Kazakhstan.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Finance noted that Kazakhstan highly values the strategic nature of its interaction with the IMF and is confident in further mutually beneficial cooperation.

To note, the International Monetary Fund is a specialized UN agency established on December 27, 1945, to develop international cooperation in the monetary and financial sphere, work together on economic problems, lend and advise debtor countries, and collect and publish international financial statistics.

Kazakhstan has been a member of the IMF since 1992. During this time, a number of mutually beneficial agreements have been concluded between our country and the Fund. The IMF mission annually visits Kazakhstan for consultations.
