ASTANA, Kazakhstan, 29 May. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov signed a resolution on the allocation of 39.9 billion tenge (approx. $9 million) from the Government's reserve for the construction and modernization of medical facilities under the "Modernization of Rural Health" project, Trend reports via Kazakh PM’s office.
The project is implemented in order to improve the level of medical care for rural residents. It envisages the construction of 655 primary health care (PHC) facilities and the modernization of central district hospitals.
Financing of projects is carried out in accordance with the submitted applications from regional executive bodies.
In this regard, funds from the Government's reserve amounting to just over 39 billion 987 million tenge (approx. $9 million) will be allocated for the construction of 297 primary health care facilities in rural settlements, for which the design and construction documents are ready.
Among them are medical centers, obstetric stations, and medical outpatient clinics. In addition, part of the allocated funds will be used for the completion of capital repairs of the maternity hospital building of Arkalyk Regional Hospital, the overhaul of two blocks of the Stepnogorsk Multi-Profile City Hospital, the overhaul of the main building of the Atbasar Multi-Profile Inter-District Hospital, the commencement of the overhaul of the Central Hospital of Balkhash City, the construction of an annex to the main building of an angiographic operating theatre and placement of an angiographic unit in the Balkhash City Multi-Profile Hospital, the reconstruction with the addition of a block to the building of the Shieliysk Multipurpose Central District Hospital, and the construction of an infectious disease department for 30 beds.
