ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 14. The volume of retail trade in Kazakhstan amounted to 8.7 trillion tenge (about $18.4 billion) from January through June 2024, which is 5.6 percent more year-on-year, Trend reports.
The nation's Bureau of National Statistics reported that trading companies' retail sales of goods were 6.4 trillion tenge ($13.5 billion), up 7.1 percent from the first quarter of 2023.
Food products make up 30.6 percent of the entire retail trade volume, while non-food products account for 69.4 percent.
As of July 1, 2024, the volume of inventory of trading enterprises (by reporting enterprises) in retail trade amounted to 1.55 trillion tenge (about $3.3 billion), in trading days of 68 days (as of July 1, 2023, the volume of inventory in retail trade amounted to 1.53 trillion tenge (about $3.2 billion), in trading days of 72 days).
The largest share in the total volume of retail trade of the country from January through June 2024 falls on the cities of Almaty (31.6 percent), Astana (12.8 percent), as well as Karaganda (7.5 percent), and East Kazakhstan (6.1 percent) regions.
In addition to this, the index of physical volume of the trading industry from January through June 2024 increased by 3.9 percent year-on-year.
A significant share of the total industry volume falls on wholesale trade, the share of which is 68 percent; retail trade is 31.6 percent.
