ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 8. A container train traveling from Cihna's Xi'an to Uzbekistan's Tashkent on the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route has arrived in record time, Trend reports via Akorda, the president of Kazakhstan's press service.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the train’s arrival ceremony.
This achievement is the fruit of agreements made in April in Khiva city, where the ball was set rolling for cargo transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route and the development of the Trans-Afghan direction. These agreements paved the way for expedited delivery, making it a breeze.
The container train covered 4,486 km in just five days, departing from Xi'an's port terminal, passing through Kazakhstan, and arriving in Tashkent.
The record transportation time was achieved through leveraging Kazakhstan's terminal facilities in China and the effective collaboration between the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to enhance border infrastructure.
To note, last year, cargo transportation between these countries exceeded 31 million tons, marking a 17.2 percent increase from 2022.
