Kyrgyz President: We managed to curb corruption on higher level

"We managed to curb corruption on the higher level. We eradicated that wicked practice of officials appointing on posts for certain prices," the President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev told reporters today. "However, corruption is still traced in education, health care and law machinery systems."

The president made the statement meeting with the National Commissar of the State Corruption Agency Sadyr Japarov, on Monday, December 1, 2008, reported  "24.kg".

At the meeting Japarov reportedly presented a draft of changes and additions to the National Corruption Control Council's contingent and introduced the 2009-2011 national corruption control plan to the president.

The president supported the contingent strengthening. "Government and population should unite in fight against this evil," Bakiev said.
