US's transit transportation center deployed in the territory of Manas Airport in Kyrgyzstan is of importance so the future of its being in the Republic still needs to be discussed, Pamela Spratlen, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kyrgyzstan, told KyrTAG in an interview.

"I think the future - after 2014 - of the Transit Transportation Center is a subject of discussions to be held further between the United States and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic," the Ambassador noted.

According to her, Manas is an extremely important, necessary means to support to the coalition's efforts in Afghanistan, and Kyrgyz officials, including the elected president, have confirmed that the Manas agreement will remain in force until the expiration of its validity term in 2014.

"I can say the United States of America and the Kyrgyz Republic have been cooperating in the struggle with international terrorism over the recent decade. We are very thankful for the support provided to the Kyrgyz people who agreed to place the Center for Transit Transportation at the International Airport Manas," she added.

The Center for Transit Transportation Manas was created by the anti-terrorist coalition forces in 2001 and further used for the transportation of cargoes to Afghanistan.
