The President must not be accountable to the Parliament. This opinion was expressed by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva at the final press conference at the Ala-Archa residence on Tuesday.
"The president must not be accountable to the Parliament," KirTAG reported the president as saying. "Parliament has repeatedly outraged during my office, saying that I do not execute its orders. I must not fulfil these orders. The President of the country is an independent branch of power and is not accountable to Parliament."
An example the President cited was the notorious confrontation with Parliament over the presidential decree to dismiss some judges of the Kyrgyz Supreme Court.
