BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Kyrgyzstan imported 1,624 tons of rice from January through February 2023, which is a 33-percent growth year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
At the same time, the value of the import increased by 69 percent year-on-year, from $656,600 to $1.1 million.
In the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan mainly imported rice from Kazakhstan – 1,042 tons. The value of the import is estimated at $828,500.
Among other countries that supplied rice to Kyrgyzstan are:
India – 242 tons for $94,300;
Russia – 204 tons for $140,700;
Pakistan – 133 tons for $44,400;
Uzbekistan – 2 tons for $4,200.
Meanwhile, the value of Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover amounted to $1.7 billion from January through February 2023, which is a 22.7-percent increase year-on-year ($1.3 billion in the same period of 2023).
Kyrgyzstan’s exports reached $255.6 million, increasing by 2 percent over $250.2 million in the corresponding months of 2022.
The imports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded $1.4 billion, which is a growth of 27.2 percent year-on-year ($1.1 billion from January through February 2022).
