BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Kyrgyzstan has produced 9.7 million cubic meters of natural gas, including liquefied gas (LNG), from January through March 2023, which is 29.3 percent more than in the same period of 2022 (7.5 million cubic meters), Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

At the same time, production of natural gas by Kyrgyzstan in March 2023 decreased 15.4 percent year-on-year – from 2.6 million cubic meters in March 2022 down to 2.2 million cubic meters.

According to the official statistics, Kyrgyzstan exported 107 tons of natural gas and LNG from January through February 2023. The sole buyer of Kyrgyz gas in the corresponding period was Uzbekistan.

At the moment, Kyrgyzstan along with Uzbekistan is working on launching restoration work in the North Sokh gas storage facility, located in the territories of both countries.

A working group from Uzbekistan visited the Kadamjay district of Kyrgyzstan’s Batken region on April 10 to analyze existing problems and develop a joint plan for accelerating the restoration project.

The main part of the storage is located in Kyrgyzstan, and the compressor station is located in Uzbekistan. In total, the storage holds up to 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
