BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 16. The current sovereign portfolio of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Kyrgyzstan consisted of 17 loans and 20 grants valued at $861.2 million as of the beginning of August 2023, Trend reports.

According to the bank, up to this point, ADB has committed a total of $2.5 billion through 208 loans, grants, and technical assistance projects in the public sector within Kyrgyzstan.

The collective disbursements for loans and grants in the country have reached $1.74 billion. These funds were provided via both regular and concessional capital resources, as well as the Asian Development Fund.

The ongoing country partnership strategy (CPS) of the ADB for Kyrgyzstan is currently in its final year of implementation. A new CPS for the years 2023 to 2027 is in the formulation stage and is projected to be enacted by 2023.

The new strategy focuses on three main goals: boosting economic opportunities for everyone, tackling climate change and improving disaster resilience, and enhancing governance and conditions for private sector-led growth. This approach aims to drive transformative, resilient, and inclusive growth.

Kyrgyzstan joined ADB in 1994, since then the bank has remained one of the country’s largest multilateral development partners. ADB has provided support to the country through sovereign and nonsovereign financing, technical assistance, and knowledge solutions.
