Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan rising

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 16. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan amounted to $277.444 million from January through June 2023, increasing 10.6 percent compared to the same period of 2022 ($250.802 million), Trend reports.

According to the data provided by the State Statistical Committee, trade operations with Uzbekistan constituted 4.1 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover.

Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan reached $113.914 million in the first half of 2023, accounting for 8.7 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total exports. The export figure increased by 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($99.342 million).

The country's imports from Uzbekistan equaled $163.526 million, making 3 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports. The value increased by 8 percent compared to the first half of 2022 ($151.459 million).

During the period under review, Uzbekistan became the third-largest trade partner of Kyrgyzstan among countries that are members of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). It was followed by Russia, with trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan amounting to $1.322 billion, and Kazakhstan, which trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan reached $627.005 million.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.7 billion from January through June 2023, increasing 31 percent compared to the first half of 2022 ($5.1 billion).

Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $1.306 billion, which is 34.6 percent more than $970.5 million recorded from January through June 2022.

The country's imports reached $5.398 billion, rising 30.3 percent compared to the same months of the previous year ($4.142 billion).
