Volume of trade in wholesale and retail in Kyrgyzstan grows

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 1. The total turnover of wholesale and retail trade in Kyrgyzstan, including automobile and motorcycle repair, reached 479.8 billion soms ($5.4 billion) from January through July 2023, which is a 14.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

As per the data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the turnover in July 2023 increased by 6.5 percent year-on-year and by 34.6 percent compared to the previous month.

The increase in the overall turnover of wholesale and retail trade, as well as automobile and motorcycle repair, from January through July of this year compared to the same months of 2022 was recorded in all regions of the country.

The highest turnover was observed in the city of Bishkek, where it amounted to 250.4 billion soms ($2.8 billion) for the reporting period. Following that, in the Chuy region, the turnover for these types of trade amounted to 74.114 billion soms ($839.7 million).

In the Osh region, the turnover of wholesale and retail trade exceeded 43 billion soms ($487.2 million), while in the Jalal-Abad region, it reached 37.166 billion soms ($421 million).

In 2022, the turnover of wholesale and retail trade, automobile, and motorcycle repair in Kyrgyzstan increased by 7.5 percent compared to 2021, reaching a total of 944.8 billion soms ($10.704 billion).
