BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 11. Documents and contracts worth more than $3.5 billion are expected to be signed following the 10th Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference, Trend reports.
Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, made this announcement during the plenary session of the conference in Kyrgyzstan's Jalal-Abad.
Japarov noted that the agreements will cover various sectors, including energy, hydropower, renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, as well as areas like geology, healthcare, fisheries, and the railway industry. Additionally, acquisitions of automotive equipment are on the agenda.
He emphasized the need to elevate the trade and economic partnership to a new, higher level. This involves actively developing projects related to industrial cooperation.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening ties and integration between domestic enterprises and Russia, fostering value-added chains, and making use of various platforms in Kyrgyzstan for production localization and the establishment of joint ventures.
Finally, he expressed the Kyrgyz side's interest in attracting Russian private businesses to explore opportunities in Kyrgyzstan and collaborate with Russian development institutions.
In a video address at this forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia increased by 17.4 percent from January through June 2023, compared to the previous year.
The 10th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference gathers representatives from these countries to discuss cooperation, project financing in trade, tourism, and retail sectors. The conference program includes visits to industrial facilities, the inauguration of the Friendship Park of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, exhibitions, and business sessions.
