Kyrgyzstan's external debt declines, while internal rises

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 17. Kyrgyzstan's total state debt (both external and internal) amounted to $5.987 billion as of September 30, 2023, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the country's external debt was $4.486 billion, while its internal debt was $1.500 billion.

The whole state debt grew by $140.6 million last month. External debt fell by $9.48 million, while internal debt rose by $150.1 million. The public debt stood at 57.29 percent of GDP at the end of September.

More over half (51.9 percent) of Kyrgyzstan's external debt was made up of multilateral loans worth $2.330 billion. Another $2.101 billion (46.8 percent of the external debt) reflected the country's bilateral concessional loan liabilities.

Kyrgyzstan's total government debt amounted to $5.578 billion, as of the end of 2022. The external debt reached $4.479 billion and the internal debt amounted to $1.098 billion.
