Kyrgyzstan's exports of copper ores and concentrates skyrocket

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 15. Kyrgyzstan exported 20,144 tons of copper ores and concentrates in 2023, 132 times more than 152 tons exported in 2022, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee reveals that the value of these exports totaled $33.279 million, increasing by 112 times compared to the figures from 2022, which amounted to $295,300.

During the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan exported copper ores and concentrates to two countries: Uzbekistan (10,218 tons) and China (9,925 tons).

Notably, there were no exports of this type of ore to Uzbekistan in 2022, and exports to China in 2023 increased by 65 times compared to 2022, when only 152 tons were exported.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.66 billion in 2023, a 29.9 percent increase from 2022. The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, an increase of 46.8 percent year over year. Imports to Kyrgyzstan totaled $12.352 billion, a 26 percent increase from 2022.
