BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 20. Kyrgyzstan imported 25,089 tons of citrus fruits in 2023, which is a 69-percent increase compared to 2022 (14,838 tons), Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of citrus fruit imports exceeded $17.310 million in 2023, increasing by 88 percent from the previous year's figures ($9.186 million).
The majority of citrus fruits imported by Kyrgyzstan came from China, with 12,757 tons valued at $9.003 million. Additionally, imports from Türkiye amounted to 4,897 tons worth $3.075 million, from Pakistan 3,246 tons valued at $2.309 million, from Iran 1,736 tons valued at $1.111 million, and from Russia 1,135 tons valued at $976,300.
During the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan also purchased small amounts of citrus from Uzbekistan (458 tons), Egypt (403 tons), Kazakhstan (381 tons), and Argentina (63 tons).
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
