Kyrgyzstan's imports of fresh and dried grapes decline

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 23. Kyrgyzstan imported 19,740 tons of fresh and dried grapes in 2023, which is 9.6 percent less than in 2022 (21,840 tons), Trend reports.

According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these imports last year amounted to $12.560 million, increasing by 50 percent compared to 2022 ($8.374 million).

During the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan imported the highest amount of grapes from Uzbekistan – 11,997 tons, and from China – 7,611 tons.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan exported 1,042 tons of fresh and dried grapes last year for $751,200. The volume of the exports decreased by 72.1 percent compared to 2022 (3,734 tons). And the value declined by 78.2 percent compared to $3.448 million in 2022

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
