BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 1. The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will help lift Kyrgyzstan out of its transport isolation, the country's President Sadyr Zhaparov said, Trend reports.
He made the statement at a ceremonial event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national railway carrier Kyrgyz Railways (Kyrgyz Temir Zholu) in Bishkek today.
"The implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will significantly contribute to the expansion of transport services for the population and the development and improvement of transport infrastructure," Zhaparov said.
He noted that the new railway corridor will become the southern part of the Eurasian Continental Bridge, facilitating cargo delivery between China, Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, and further to Iran, Türkiye, and the EU.
The president emphasized that the project aligns with the goals of Central Asian states to diversify transport routes and enhance the region's competitiveness as an international transport and transit hub.
"This strategic project will lift Kyrgyzstan out of transport isolation, connecting nearly four billion people and expanding the geography of transportation from Asia to Europe through Turkey, the Middle East, Iran, the Persian Gulf countries, and North Africa," Zhaparov said.
He added that the railway is economically beneficial and crucial for geopolitical stability.
