BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 3. A new checkpoint, Kensai-Uchkurgan, is set to open in the coming days at the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border, Trend reports.

According to the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, this was announced during a meeting between Ulan Kimsanov, First Deputy Director of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, and Ilkham Mukhtarov, Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

The opening of the new border checkpoint is expected to be a significant step in advancing cargo transportation across the Fergana valley.

The Kensai post on the Kyrgyz side is located in the village of Kyzyl-Tuu in the Jalal-Abad region, while the Uchkurgan post on the Uzbek side is situated in the Uchkurgan district of the Namangan region.

The sides expect that the launch of this new checkpoint will facilitate quicker delivery of agricultural products and other goods both to neighboring countries and to distant foreign markets. It is also noted that Bishkek and Tashkent plan to reopen three additional border checkpoints.
