Tajikistan's foreign debt increased by 6.8 percent in the first half of 2011 up to $2.75 billion as of July 1, 2011, Finance Minister Safarali Najmiddinov said at a press conference in Dushanbe on Monday, CA-News reported.
"The total external debt made up one third the of the country's GDP level," he said.
Some $42 million was directed to serve the debt in January-June, of which $ 16 million was directed to repay the principal debt and the rest - pay the interest rates. "There is no outstanding debt," he said.
Under the foreign debt management strategy, the limit level of attraction of credit resources is 40 percent of GDP. According to estimates, this level will be achieved by 2020.
