Tajikistan sees decrease in retail food prices

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 6. In Tajikistan, retail prices for some staple foods decreased in April 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Agency on Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

According to statistics, the decrease in retail food price in April 2022 was recorded for the following:

- The price for flour was 3.15 somoni ($0.27) per 1 kg in April 2022, which is a decrease of 9.2 percent compared to 3.47 somoni ($0.30) in March 2022;

- Price for beef was 61.96 somoni ($5.4) per 1 kg in the reporting month, which is 4.6 percent less than in the previous month, 62.84 somoni ($5.5) per 1 kg;

- The price for lamb meat was 65 somoni ($5.7) in April 2022, which is also decreased by 0.45 percent compared to 65.3 somoni ($5.72) in March 2022

- Potatoes in the reporting month cost 3.15 somoni ($0.27) per 1 kg, which is a decrease of 9.2 percent compared to 3.47 somoni ($0.30) in March 2022;

Meanwhile, prices for onion in Tajikistan reached 3.12 somoni ($0.27) per 1 kg in April 2022, which is an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the previous month 3.05 somoni ($0.26).

Rice in the reporting period cost 9.18 somoni ($0.8) per 1 kg, which is 1.1 percent more compared to 9.08 somoni ($0.7) in the previous month of 2022.

The prices above are the average retail food prices throughout Tajikistan.
