Share of tourism in Tajikistan’s GDP unveiled

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. The share of the tourism industry in Tajikistan’s GDP made up 2.8 percent in 2022, according to preliminary data, Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee, Kamaliddin Muminzoda told reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.

According to data, the number of foreign tourists visiting Tajikistan in 2022 increased by 703,000 people or by 3.4 times, compared to 2021. The total number of foreign tourists in Tajikistan amounted to 999,300.

“As of today, 242 tourist companies that provide services to the guests and tourists are operating in the country,” Muminzoda said.

As he noted, 100 objects of tourist infrastructure were built and put into operation in 2022. And, in total, 600 objects of tourist infrastructure have been put into service over the past five years.

According to the committee, the main share of the tourists in the country came from: Uzbekistan (690,000 tourists), Russia (136,000 tourists) Kazakhstan (25,000 tourists), Türkuye (7,500 tourists) and the US (around 7,000 tourists) in 2022.
