BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Prices for key food products such as wheat flour (1st grade), vegetable,s and cotton oils in Tajikistan remained stable from April 3 through April 9, Trend reports with reference to the Weekly Market Monitoring Database of the World Food Programme.

At the same time, the average price of sugar and eggs increased by 1 percent.

During the period under review, in the majority of city and district markets of Tajikistan, the average price of vegetables, including onions, potatoes, and cabbages, has decreased from 2 to 10 percent compared to the previous week. However, the average price of carrots has increased by 3 percent.

“Average prices for meat products and beans, taking into account their inventory levels on consumer markets in cities and districts, as well as consumer demand for these types of food products, remain variable,” the report said.

The World Food Programme, founded in 1961, is an international organization within the United Nations that provides food assistance worldwide. It is the world's largest humanitarian organization.

In partnership with Tajik Neksigol Mushovir, an agricultural advisory group, WFP Tajikistan has been keeping track of market prices for key commodities consumed by the country's population. They monitor five major markets and ten minor markets and gather price data at the beginning of each week using a network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
