BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. A total of 5.453 million payment cards issued by banks were in circulation in Tajikistan in April 2023, which is 1,519 cards less than in March 2023 (5.455 million), Trend reports.
As reported by the National Bank of Tajikistan, the number of other payment cards amounted to 747,871, which is 6,625 cards more than in March 2023 (741,246).
During the period under review, the number of bank payment cards holders in Tajikistan reached 5.167 million people, which is 84,658 people more than in March of the current year (5.082 million people).
Moreover, the volume of transaction by bank payment cards equaled 5.349 billion somoni ($492.9 million), which is 0.2 percent less than 5.360 billion somoni ($493.9 million) in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the number of banks issuing payment cards in Tajikistan reached 5.060 million by the end of 2022, marking a 45.4 percent increase compared to the 3.479 million cards at the end of 2021.
