DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 1. Tajikistan has announced significant salary increases and a hike in the minimum wage across all sectors, starting on July 1, 2024, Trend reports.
According to President Emomali Rahmon's decree, starting July 1, salaries for employees in preschools and general educational institutions will rise by 40 percent. Similar increases will apply to staff in other educational institutions and the scientific sector.
Healthcare workers will also see a 40 percent salary increase, with payments aligned with Tajikistan's guidelines for healthcare worker salaries.
In addition, salaries in the social security sector, covering nursing homes for the disabled and elderly, sanatoriums, specialized vocational schools for the disabled, home social care departments, and related institutions, will increase by 40 percent.
Cultural sector employees, including those in libraries, museums, clubs, theaters, and periodicals, will likewise receive a 40 percent salary hike.
Administrative positions in state service bodies, local executive authorities, and village self-government bodies will have their base salaries increased by 40 percent.
Scholarships are also set to increase by 40 percent as of July 1, 2024. Furthermore, insurance, labor, and social pensions, along with their supplements, will be indexed or increased by 30 percent of their current amount starting the same date.
Simultaneously, the minimum wage in Tajikistan has been raised to 800 somoni per month ($75.20), up from 600 somoni ($56.40) previously.
The funding for these salary increases, pensions, and scholarships will be fully covered by the state budget, with over 2 billion somoni ($188.004 million) allocated for this purpose.
