Police Aviation Service created in Turkmenistan

According to a decree of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, a police aviation service has been established under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ministry's press centre reported.

The Aviation Service conducts aerial surveillance to ensure public order and fire safety, prevention of accidents, rescue and escorts transport convoys and individual transport, providing them with free and safe movement of goods personnel and cargo.

According to the report, several helicopters produced by the US based Robinson company have been purchased for the service and a contract has been signed with JSC Kazan Helicopter Plant of the Russian Federation on the purchase of two Mi-17V-5 multipurpose helicopters.

Six technicians were sent to Kazan to train for carrying out the training of crew who will pilot the new helicopters. A group of nine were sent there to be trained to pilot the Mi-17V-5helicopters in 2011.

According to the report, in particular, the Aviation Service conducts flights over the foothills and other places where there is a significant fire risk. In August and September 2012 at the tactical training exercises at Khazar-2012, Aviation Service officers managed with the task with honour and achieved a high assessment.

'Thanks to the support of the Head of State, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan are provided with up-to-the-minute technology and special equipment, as well as modern transportation facilities for road surveillance and fire safety services, the passport system, the public security centre, forensics and medical services', the report says.
