UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will attend the Global Sustainable Transport Conference to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on November 26-27, the UN News Center reported Nov. 23.

According to the message, Ban Ki-moon will depart from the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan November 25.

Together with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Ban Ki-moon will open the first UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference in Ashgabat, the UN News Center said.

Ashgabat conference participants will discuss the ways of developing environmentally sustainable, safe, efficient and reliable multi-modal transport corridors, designed for efficient movement of goods and people, the message said.

According to the message, Ban Ki-moon is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with President Berdimuhamedov and deliver speech at the opening ceremony of the new UN office in Ashgabat.

The UN secretary general will also visit the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat, the message said.

Ban Ki-moon will return to New York Nov. 27, the UN News Center said.
