Another meeting of the working groups of the Uzbek-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between the two countries has been held in Turkmenistan’s Turkmenabat city, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message April 2.

During the meeting, the results of joint field topographical and geodetic work at some sections of the common state border were reviewed and an agreement was reached to continue the work on the basis of the schedule for 2018.

"The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere and a protocol was signed following the talks," the message said.

The agreements reached during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Turkmenistan on March 6-7, 2017 gave an impetus to the negotiations on the legal registration of the Turkmen-Uzbek state border with a length of 1,650 kilometers.

In November 2017 it was reported that the Turkmen Parliament ratified the agreement on the area of the point of junction of state borders among Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The document itself was signed on November 10 in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city at the level of foreign ministers of the three countries.
