Turkmenistan, OECD focus on support to businesses amid COVID-19

Turkmenistan has participated in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)- led discussions on restoring private sector in Central Asian countries, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The subject was discussed during a regional meeting of OECD held on June 10, 2020, and dedicated to facilitating the restoration of the private sector in Central Asian countries.

The online event was attended by senior government officials from seven countries participating in the OECD Central Asian Initiative and responsible for the development and implementation of anti-crisis measures, representatives of the private sector, international experts, representatives of the European Union, OECD and other international organizations.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov.

The head of the Turkmen delegation highlighted the measures taken in the country to support the national economy and the possibilities of cooperation in the framework of Turkmenistan Preparedness and Response Plan for an acute infectious disease, including the search for joint solutions and the development of anti-crisis policies.

The parties also discussed the measures taken by the Central Asian countries to support the national economies and restore the private sector. Special attention was paid to the crisis in the world caused by coronavirus and the ways to overcome it.

The participants shared views on further actions to support small and medium-sized enterprises during post-pandemic period.
