BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. Turkmenistan intends to reconstruct and modernize the Maryazot production association, a chemical plant in the Mary region in the south-east of the country, in order to fully provide the domestic agro-industrial complex with ammonium nitrate and refuse to import it, Trend reports via “Business Turkmenistan” news agency.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Charymyrat Purchekov informed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov about measures to modernize the plant during an online government meeting.
Following the results of the report, the head of state stressed the need to ensure the effective operation of all chemical industry enterprises and systematically re-equip existing production facilities in order to provide domestic agricultural producers with the necessary fertilizers.
The Maryazot plant of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern is the first industrial enterprise for the production of nitrogen fertilizers in Turkmenistan. The enterprise was put into operation in 1984. It currently produces ammonium nitrate, ammonia, nitric acid, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, polypropylene bags, soda ash and ferrous sulfate.
