BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. Japan strives to develop comprehensive cooperation with Turkmenistan, a source in the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan told Trend.

It was noted that Japan, in order to ensure stable development, would like to maximize cooperation with Turkmenistan, which has rich natural resources, against the background of a sharp increase in energy prices in the world as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine.

The embassy said that Japan was the first country in the world to sign a framework document with all the countries of Central Asia, establishing a "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue.

"The 9th Foreign Ministers Meeting was held in Japan on December 24 last year within the framework of the "Central Asia + Turkmenistan" Dialogue, and using this opportunity, Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa held a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. During the meeting, the diplomats agreed to strengthen the economic relations of the countries, including in the areas of decarbonization, education, and culture," the embassy said.

It was stressed that during this meeting, the Foreign Ministers of Japan and Turkmenistan exchanged views on the situation in the world and cooperation in the international arena, and expressed mutual agreement of the countries to continue close cooperation in various fields.
