BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1. Businessmen from UAE purchased iodine from Turkmen production during trading on February 17 at the State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
Businessmen from UAE purchased 175 tons of iodine on the exchange at a price of $62,500 per ton. The total amount of the transaction was $10.9 million.
The products, which are widely used in the production of petroleum products, medicines and chemical reagents, were manufactured by the enterprise of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.
Turkmenistan pays great attention to capacity building in the field of industry. For example, industrial enterprises located in the Balkan region in the west of Turkmenistan produced 760 tons of iodine in 2022, which is 2.3 percent more than the planned volume.
The State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important body of state regulation of export-import operations.
