ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 26. Turkmenistan and the EU discussed the expansion of partnership in the fields of energy, Trend reports.
These concerns were discussed during the EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting by Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and EU Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen.
According to Turkmenistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting's main focus was on the energy sector, including hydrogen energy, methane emissions reduction, and natural gas processing.
Meredov cited Turkmenistan's successful collaboration with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in the realm of hydrogen and methane research as an example.
The parties emphasized the necessity of taking a systematic approach to energy projects and defining a roadmap for future collaboration.
At the same time, the parties discussed Turkmenistan's progress toward membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The EU Commissioner emphasized the EU's willingness to provide technical help to Turkmenistan, given its goal for WTO membership and ongoing reforms.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg hosted the 19th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting on October 23, which was attended by delegates from all Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The major goal of this gathering was to explore cooperative concerns and find answers to present challenges.
