Turkmenistan and UNDP collaborate on multiple joint projects

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 13. Turkmenistan and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) are strategic partners, as evidenced by the joint implementation of 27 projects at the moment, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, this was voiced during a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director, Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, UNDP, Ivana Živković.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of digitalization and support for Turkmenistan in joining the World Trade Organization (WTO).

At the same time, they paid special attention to cooperation in the healthcare sector, where two new projects in this area have recently been signed.

Meredov informed about the documents and initiatives on climate change that Turkmenistan joined at COP 28, including proposals by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

In this regard, the Turkmen side invited the UNDP leadership to consider the possibilities of joint implementation of these initiatives.

Meanwhile, in recent years, cooperation between UNDP and Turkmenistan has continued to develop actively, covering a wide range of areas of joint activity.

Both sides pay special attention to strengthening sustainable economic development, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.
