Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a decree March 1, making new appointments in the government.

The decrees were published in official Uzbek media outlets.

Karimov appointed a new special education minister. Under the decree, Bakhodir Hodiev was made the head of the Higher and Secondary Special Education Ministry. Hodiev replaced Azimjon Parpiev who had held the post since January 2008.

Based on another presidential decree, Jahongir Ismailov was appointed chairman of the State Demonopolization and Competition Development Committee. Ismailov replaced Boymurod Ulashov, who had held the post since June 2006.

Karimov signed a decree appointing the acting chairperson of the State Property Management Committee.

Under the document, Aziz Abdukhakimov was made acting chairperson. Prior to the appointment, Abdukhakimov worked as the committee's first deputy chairperson.

Abdukhakimov replaced Dilshod Musaev in this post, who had headed Executive Office of the Cabinet of Ministers in November.
