Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On measures for scrap procurement, production and consumption of rolled ferrous metals for 2018.”
In accordance with the decree, starting from 2018, rolled ferrous metals produced by Uzmetkombinat JSC will be supplied exclusively through exchange trading.
The document notes that the volumes of rolled ferrous metals that are not sold at the exchange trading must be put up for the auction again within a month and only after that period can be exported under direct contracts.
Physically and morally outdated equipment and metal structures, which are written off during bankruptcy, liquidation, reconstruction and modernization, must be handed over to Uzmetkombinat JSC as scrap and waste at a contractual price.
Also, metallurgical raw materials, imported by business entities to Uzbekistan for the production of rolled ferrous metals will be exempt from customs payments (except for customs clearance fees) until January 1, 2019.
