Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers reviews economic impact of coronavirus

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Uzbekistan observed losses in revenues in the amount of 8.4 trillion soum ($816.3 million), Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan (Oliy Majlis).

This was announced at the meeting of the Legislative Chamber, at which deputies considered the report submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of the State Budget of Uzbekistan and the budget of specialized state funds for the first half of 2020.

According to the results of the first half of 2020, the GDP of the country made up 255.3 trillion soum ($24.8 billion), which is a 0.2 percent increase in comparison to a similar period of 2019. State budget revenues made up 58.1 billion soum ($5.6 million) or fulfilled for 45.3 percent with approved annual parameters.

State Budget expenses (excluding specialized state funds) made up 64.8 trillion soum ($6.2 billion) or 25.4 percent of GDP which is equivalent to 90.3 percent to planned expenses.

The budget deficit for the reporting period made up 6.7 trillion soum ($651.1 million). The deficit was covered by international financial institutions (3.2 trillion soum – $310.9 million) and proceeds from the placement of state treasury bonds (3.4 trillion soum – $330.4 million).

Following the results of the meeting, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis adopted the corresponding resolution on the agenda.
