Uzbekistan reveals volume of industrial production for Jan. 2021

The decrease in the physical volume of industrial production in Uzbekistan in January 2021 was mainly caused by the production decrease in the mining industry, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, in January 2021, enterprises of the country produced industrial products worth 26.8 trillion soums ($2.5 billion). It is noted that the index of the physical volume of industrial production by the same period in 2020 amounted to 98.8 percent.

It is reported that the largest share of in the structure of production falls on manufacturing enterprises, amounting to 76.6 percent.

The committee notes that the main factors behind the decline in the physical volume of industrial production in Uzbekistan during the reported period were its decrease in mining and quarrying enterprises by 0.2 percent and by 2.2 percent in the manufacturing industry.

At the same time, there was an increase of four percent in production at power supply, gas, steam and air conditioning enterprises and 14 percent - in water supply, sewerage, waste collection and disposal.

Thus, the volume of products manufactured by mining and quarrying enterprises in January 2021 amounted to 3.2 trillion soums ($305 million), or 12 percent of the total industry.

Moreover, manufacturing enterprises in January 2021 produced goods worth 20.5 trillion soums ($2 billion), or 76.6 percent of the total industry.

In the structure of the manufacturing industry, the share of high-tech industries amounted to 2 percent (2.1 percent in January 2020), medium-high-tech - 13.6 percent (24.2 percent), medium-low-tech - 44.7 percent (38.1 percent) and low-tech - 39.7 percent (35.6 percent).

In the structure of industrial output of the country, the largest share falls on enterprises in Tashkent (14.8 percent of the republican volume of industry), Navoi (21.6 percent), Tashkent (19 percent), Kashkadarya (5.4 percent) and Fergana (5.1 percent) regions.

At the same time, the smallest share of industrial production was recorded at the enterprises of Surkhandarya (1.4 percent) and Jizzakh (1.5 percent) regions.
