Uzbekistan, Malaysia aim to set up working group to co-op in agriculture sector

Uzgoskarantin (State Plant Quarantine Inspectorate of Uzbekistan) and the Department of Agriculture of Malaysia will create a joint working group to develop cooperation in the agricultural industry, Trend reports referring to Uzbek embassy in Malaysia.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan organized online negotiations between the leadership of the Uzgoskarantin inspection, the Department of Agriculture of Malaysia and the MAQIS (Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services) to discuss the further development of cooperation in the agricultural industry, ensuring the quality and safety of food products and increasing its exports.

As a result of the event, an agreement was reached on the creation of a joint working group between the inspection Uzgoskarantin and the Malaysian Department of Agriculture at the expert level in order to determine specific areas of cooperation in the above-mentioned field, to attract Malaysian specialists to study the country's experience in the field of plant protection, to develop a methodology for the use of chemicals with taking into account quantitative and temporal norms.

The Malaysian Department of Agriculture was founded in 1905 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) to ensure sustainable productivity and competitiveness in the country's agricultural sector through the use of the latest technology. The department also monitors farm compliance with crop production regulations to ensure food security.

MAQIS is the state food, plant, animal and microbial quarantine inspection service under MAFI. The body inspects the products imported into the country for the conformity of the goods with the adjacent documents, the absence of harmful chemicals and substances in them, as well as their safety.
