BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Integration of the Turkic states, namely the strengthening of their political integration has gained significance in recent years, an independent political scientist and analyst Sanjar Saidov told Trend.
“It is well known that today's system of modern international relations is very complex and contradictory. On the one hand, the global socio-economic system is developing at a rapid pace, on the other hand, there are tendencies of a global crisis due to various conflicts and clashes. In such conditions, the formation of such an international structure as the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which has national, historical, religious and linguistic unity, is of great importance,” Saidov said.
According to the expert, the recent November 2022 Samarkand summit of the OTS was symbolic for a number of reasons related to the results achieved and the documents adopted at this summit, which, according to Saidov, will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the future of this organization.
“This summit, in general, this organization sets long-term strategic goals. But the organization has taken a step-by-step approach to achieving these goals. The reason is that the four countries in Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan), Azerbaijan and Turkiye, have extremely important economic and political ties with Russia on the one hand and China on the other. The organization today is aimed at developing more economic ties,” Saidov said.
He said there is need to revive cooperation and integration of the Turkic countries in terms of a single platforms to counter the various threats caused by modern globalization is emphasized.
"Secondly, the processes of economic modernization taking place in all five countries of the Central Asia region, the increase in demand for the expansion of trade and economic ties, the transformation of the state into a country that is not only a seller of raw materials, but also a producer of value-added finished products, needs in regional cooperation and integration. Integration, literally, will undoubtedly open up new prospects in the fields of technical and technological development, trade, economic and transport and logistics activities in the Turkic countries," he said.
"Thirdly, the peoples of the region will be interested in the integration of the Turkic countries. Because cultural, humanitarian, religious and scientific ties that have been formed for centuries will be revived. The active involvement of the general public in integration processes is undoubtedly the basis of human development based on the strengthening of democratic principles and the establishment of the rule of law in the member states of the organization," Saidov believes.
