BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 9. China has sent turbines for wind farm construction in Zarafshan city of Uzbekistan's Navoiy region, fulfilling an order, Trend reports citing Uzbek media outlets.

The order was fulfilled as part of the previously signed agreement on supplying 111 turbines for the wind farm between Masdar, UAE-government owned renewable energy company and China’s Goldwind.

The wind farm with a total capacity of 500 GW is under construction with the participation of Masdar.

The wind power equipment from China was valued at $515,000 and was transferred to Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan.

Previously, the route from China to Uzbekistan passed through the port of Khorgos in Kazakhstan. The new shorter route through Kyrgyzstan will boost foreign trade between China and Uzbekistan.

In the meantime, preparations for constructing the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad are ongoing. The parties signed the initial agreement on the project in September 2022, at the SCO summit in Samarkand. The implementation of the project is estimated at $3-5 billion.
