BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Uzbekistan exported some 7,600 tons of tomatoes worth $7.5 million from January through February 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, the volume of tomato exports has decreased by 39.2 percent, compared to the reporting period in 2022 (12,500 tons worth $8.6 million).

Uzbekistan overall exported 135,600 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $116.4 million during the first two months of this year. This figure decreased by 1.2 times or 28,400 tons, compared to the same period in 2022 (164,000 tons).

From January through February 2023, besides tomatoes, Uzbekistan exported to its trade partners some 17,600 tons of mug beans, 15,500 tons of dried grapes, 15,300 tons of cabbage, 11,100 tons of fresh grapes, 6,200 tons of pomegranates, 4,400 tons of prunes, 3,600 tons of chili pepper, 1,400 tons of peanuts, etc.

Uzbekistan in the reporting period exported fruit and vegetables to Kazakhstan (44,800 tons), Russia (29,200 tons), China (19,500 tons), Kyrgyzstan (11,900 tons), Pakistan (9,200 tons), Afghanistan (4,600 tons), Türkiye (2,000 tons), Azerbaijan (1,500 tons), Belarus (1,400 tons), etc.

Back in 2022, trade partners of Uzbekistan imported some 76,400 tons of tomatoes worth $57.8 million – a decrease of 3.4 percent, compared to the figure for 2021.

At the same time, in 2022, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
