BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. 'Thermal Power Plant' JSC of Uzbekistan and Germany’s Siemens Energy have signed agreements worth 72 million euros on the sidelines of the Germany-Uzbekistan business forum held on May 2, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry.
Following the newly signed agreement, in boiler room No.3 for heat supply in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara and at the Mubarak thermal power plant will be installed gas turbines with a capacity of 54 MW each.
The ministry says that the new gas turbines will make it possible to generate 1.7 million kW an hour of energy, as well as 1.5 Gcal of thermal energy per year.
As a result, the total capacity of electric energy produced in Uzbekistan country will increase by 216 MW.
It should be noted that German Siemens Energy along with the French EDF and the Dutch Stone City Energy is part of a public-private partnership, which conducts the construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) in the Angorsky district of Uzbekistan Surkhandarya region.
The total cost of the project for the construction of the TPP is $1.2 billion. The plant with a capacity of 1,560 MW will generate 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
The construction of a thermal power plant started in 2022, while the commissioning of the TPP is scheduled for the end of 2024.
