BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Uzbekistan has lifted all restrictions on imports of petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel fuel, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the recent meeting on the topics of energy supply and the introduction of green energy, Trend reports via the press secretary of the Uzbek president.
Over the past few years, there has been a growing demand for the use of petroleum products in Uzbekistan, and therefore the country's authorities are aiming at increasing the volume of imports of both gasoline and diesel fuel.
During the first three months of 2023, Uzbekistan has already boosted the imports of petroleum products. According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, during the first quarter of this year, Uzbekistan imported from its trade partners petroleum products worth $510 million.
The value of petroleum products imports increased by 45 percent, over $351.6 million in 1Q2022.
In 2022, Uzbekistan imported petroleum products worth $1.2 billion, increasing by 9.7 percent, compared to the figure for 2021 – $1.1 billion.
Furthermore, during the recent meeting, president Mirziyoyev instructed to create special reserves, which will involve the storage of imported petroleum products in the amount of 1 million tons.
