TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 13. Uzbek government has adopted the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy, aimed at improving all spheres of development in the country, Trend reports.
The approved strategy provides for an increase in production of precious metals, including gold (1.5 times), silver (3 times), and copper (3.5 times).
Uzbekistan, being one of the largest gold mining countries in the world, plans to expand gold production to 150 tons per year, with an increase by almost 1.5 times compared to 105 tons being produced as of now, annually.
Volume of silver production is planned to increase by 3 times and amount to 500 tons per year.
As stated in the report by Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (MMC), the company produces about 148,000 tons of copper per year, with 90,000 tons being exported, which comprises 70 percent of the total production volume.
Today, Almalyk MMC ranks third in terms of copper production after Russia and Kazakhstan.
“Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy covers 5 directions and 100 goals and plans to allocate $252 billion for the implementation of new projects in spheres of energy, industry, transport, tourism etc.
