TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 3. Sweden expressed readiness to provide assistance and expertise in helping Uzbekistan address waste management challenges, Trend reports.
The news followed a recent meeting between Head of the Republican Center for the Organization of Sanitary Cleaning under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology Sharifbek Hasanov, Swedish Ambassador to Uzbekistan Tomas Danestad and Senior Adviser of the Swedish Association for Waste Management and Recycling Vern Vikvist.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of waste management between Uzbekistan and Sweden, as well as the introduction of advanced foreign experience into the waste management system, paying special attention to the development, sustainable design and implementation of innovative waste-to-energy technologies.
Moreover, the participants exchanged views on the study and analysis of the waste situation in Uzbekistan, including short- and long-term needs in this area. The Swedish model of waste management is focused on the processing and production of energy from waste.
A number of measures are currently being implemented to introduce Sweden's best practices in the field of waste management in Uzbekistan.
