China to build technopark in Uzbekistan’s region

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 11. Chinese Tianjin University of Science and Technology will build a $50 million worth technopark for the production of biotechnical products in the Yangiyer Free Economic Zone (FEZ) of Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region, Trend reports.

The news followed a meeting between the governor of the Syrdarya region Akmaljon Makhmudaliev and the director of the Technopark of High Technologies and Innovations of the Tianjin University of Science and Technology of China Bovi Zhang.

The university also eyes building a logistics and customs center with a total area of 10 hectares on the territory of the technopark. As per data by the region’s administration, the project will provide for the creation of 500 new jobs.

The infrastructure with modern equipment is planned to be used for obtaining bone protein from cattle bones and producing sugar substitute and fortified syrups from licorice, as well as fermented products from processed wheat grains, corn and soy seeds according to Chinese technology.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to create a joint working group and hold regular negotiations on issues arising during the construction of the facility.

Meanwhile, China helps Uzbekistan’s comprehensive development as municipality of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent and Chinese BYD automobile concern have signed framework agreement on the supply of 2,000 electric buses.

The first batch of 200 buses is planned to be delivered to Uzbekistan in 2024. A 12meter-long BYD eBus K9UD, accommodating up to 90 passengers, is said to provide Tashkent’s transport system with a high level of safety and reliability.
