TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 21. Uzbekistan and the Russian IMPACT-BIO company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of biotechnological complex in the Yangier Free Industrial Zone of Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region, Trend reports.
The news followed a meeting between head of the Syrdarya region Akmaljon Makhmudaliev and head of IMPACT-BIO Andrey Kirik and Ivan Savintsev.
The cost of the project is estimated at $20 million.
The biotechnological facility is to be set up to produce protein-based animal feeds, dietary supplements, and biopolymer goods.
As a result of the talks, the parties agreed on the development of an appropriate plan for work in this direction.
Earlier this month, Russia’s Kalmyk State University and Uzbekistan's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation signed an agreement for the establishment of an agro-innovation center in 2024 in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent.
The new innovation hub is said to specialize in development of new technologies for breeding of farm animals.
Meanwhile, during the 2nd Turkic Agro Business Forum in Baku, Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov said that Uzbekistan is interested in attracting $50 billion of foreign investment in the agricultural sector of the country.
The minister noted that the textile industry, gardening, animal husbandry, seed production, and others are important and promising sectors in the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan.
