TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 17. Uzbekistan’s Sanoat Energy Guruhi (Saneg) oil and gas company plans topographic surveys, electrical exploration, and drilling of exploration wells worth more than $10 million in the next few years, Trend reports.

As per data by Deputy General Director of Saneg for the Development of Strategic Projects Azizbek Nazarov, the company plans to launch four installations using the circulating fluidized bed technology (CCS-1500) by the end of 2024.

“The capacity of each plant for processing 1.5 million tons of shale ore per year will ensure the production of 150 MW of electric energy per year, as well as the production of about 800,000 tons of synthetic oil and 300 million cubic meters of shale gas per year,” Nazarov stated.

In addition, within five years, Saneg plans to increase the number of CCS-1500 units to 25 units, expanding the processing capacity of shale ore to 37.5 million tons of raw materials per year.

"Large reserves of this mineral in Uzbekistan open up new opportunities for the introduction of modern technologies in the geological exploration, extraction, and processing of oil shale. Thus, the project in the Surkhandarya region represents not only a new strategic approach to ensuring the diversification of the country's fuel base but also a foundation for sustainable development in the future,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has produced 584,500 tons of oil from January through September 2023, which is 0.6 percent, or 3,400 tons more, compared to the same period last year, when Uzbekistan produced 587,900 tons of oil.

Overall, the total capacity of Uzbekistan's oil refineries amounts to 10 million tons as of today.

As per official statistics, oil production in Uzbekistan increased by 1.8 percent to 787,800 tons by the end of 2022, while gasoline production went up to 1.26 million tons, indicating an increase of 11.5 percent. Additionally, the volume of diesel fuel production increased by 5.9 percent and amounted to 800,100 tons.
